Boston - Part I
Last weekend, we had the pleasure of visting the lovely city of Boston, Massachusettes. It was THE most wonderful vacation we've ever had! We were in Boston for my dear friend's wedding, but we prepared to make the most of the opportunity given to explore the Boston area while we were there. We flew in on Friday morning around 10am.

We picked up our rental car and headed into town (via the many undergound tunnels that infiltrate Boston). It was a bit rainy that day, so we headed straight over to the John F. Kennedy Library to take in some history (indoors). I am completely infatuated with this family - have been for some time now. We spent approximately 3 hours touring the facility and we loved every minute of it!

After the tour was over, we checked in at our hotel downtown and proceeded on to the scheduled wedding events of the evening.

Boston - Part II
On Saturday, we woke up to the most gorgeous sunny day! We walked across the street to Brueggers to pick up some bagels and coffee on our way to Cambridge. By the time we stepped onto Harvard's campus, it was 78 degrees and breezy . . . the most perfect day to be experiencing Harvard for the first time :)

We literally walked around campus all morning and into the first half of the afternoon before heading back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding.
We took a brief hiatus from the lovely Cambridge to witness the nuptials of my HS BFF, but we came back after the wedding so we could experience Harvard's nightlife as well! This place was hopping, people were everywhere. On every corner was a fabulous street performer, the cafe's were packed, and rarely did I ever hear my own language - it was the most diverse culture I had ever been in! We stopped for a double decker cone of homemade oreo cake batter ice cream . . . I was in heaven!
We called it a night around 2am . . . I don't think I've stayed up that late since college :)

Boston - Part III
Last day in Boston - the remorse is already beginning to settle in :( We got a late start on Sunday, so we decided to enjoy an outdoor brunch at Scollay Square.

The food was absolutely amazing and we were both pleasantly stuffed at the end of our meal :) It's a good thing we spent the day walking all over Boston, too, considering the number of calories we consumed! We literally just did a walking tour of Boston for the next several hours. We took in some of the most historic sites as well as others that were just for fun (not the least of which was Beacon Hill, Newbury Street, and the official home site of "Cheers").

When our feet had finally had enough, we settled in for our last agenda item in Boston - a trolley tour! The tour took us from the Prudential Center to Fenway Park, the Naval Yard, Little Italy, Fenuil Hall, and all the good stuff in between . . .
No trip to Boston could have been complete without matching Red Sox ballcaps! We certainly looked the part of the giddy tourists - lol!
And just because I have such a thoughtful husband, we stopped for a quick afternoon treat on our way back to airport at the fabulous "Sweet" cupcake bakery! I had the most delightful pina colada cupcake!
Boston is the most wonderful city! By far the very best vacation I've ever been on. We cannot wait to experience it again! Special thanks to Corrine J. Cottrell for giving us a good reason to make the trip!
