Happy Independence Day!

What a GREAT 4th of July we had! We were invited to go back home to Raleigh for the weekend and spend the holiday with our families. I can think of no better way to have spent my favorite holiday! We drove into town on Friday and spent the afternoon looking through old pictures of my family when my parents were kids on up through their honeymoon! My dad has a bazillion slides (yes, i said slides)of pictures from when he was growing up and he was recently able to transfer them all to digital files. So now he can share them with his family! It was so neat seeing all these pictures of my dad as a baby/kid all the way through meeting my mom, getting married, enjoying their honeymoon, and starting their own family (this means OLD baby pictures of me!). Then we went to see a movie and came home and crashed.

Saturday was great! A perfect 88 degrees at the height of the day! We spent most of the afternoon in the pool soaking up the sun

We followed up our afternoon in the pool with a grand ol' 4th of July cookout! Turkey/Veggie burgers, baked beans, corn on the cob, chips, watermelon, and lemonade! Mmmm, was it yummy! Afterwards, we drove out to Regency Park in Cary to hear the NC Symphony play their 4th of July concert. We were certainly not the only ones there! I would guesstimate approximately 3,000 people showed up for this event! But it was worth it! The Symphony was amazing and they finished the night with 2,000 lbs of fireworks on display! They were beautiful!

Sadie-girl was all tuckered out after her day of excitement! She slept really good that night :)

What a day! We couldn't have had more fun if we tried!
Sunday morning we went to The Summit Church and came home to a fabulously prepared homemade family feast including all my favorite things (tuna steaks,mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, strawberry cobbler). Oh my, was it good! I'll admit, I most certainly helped myself to seconds :)

Once we said goodbye to my family, we drove to Mebane to meet up with Chris' family after they closed the winery. We enjoyed a great dinner with his mom and dad then drove over to his sister's house to spend a little time with everyone. It was great to see our niece, Natalie . . . she's getting so big and so beautiful! Chris' sister Dana is weeks away from giving birth to their second child, a boy, baby Cade. This is one of the few times we've seen her preggers with this baby. She is more than ready for Cade to make his debut into the world . . . as we all are :) We got home rather late, but we had a great time being with his family.

I have to say that this year's 4th of July was by far my most favorite so far! I couldn't have asked for more!
